Turkish gendarmerie teams have intercepted five illegal migrants in Edirne County while trying to cross into Bulgaria, news website Haberler reports.
The operation was carried out on Sunday near the village of Demirkoy (in Lalapasa municipality).
The arrested migrants are Egyptian citizens. During the gendarmerie operation, the smuggler who organised the attempt to cross the migrants into Bulgaria was also detained.
The migrants were handed over to the Migration Service in Adrianople.
