Political integrity means consistently exercising political power for the common good, independent from private interests, and not leveraging power to maintain the wealth and position of office holders. To minimise the risk of undermining political integrity, it is essential to ensure that political officeholders are free from the undue influence of vested interests, that inclusive and open opportunities exist for influencing decision-making, and that office holders are held accountable for using power for private gain.
